This beautiful resident of the tropical western Atlantic, is purplish overall with a yellowish "face". Some of its close relatives have yellowish orange on the back and/or tail. This is one of the bolder members of the genus. This fish is ideal for the reef aquarium, as it rarely bothers invertebrate tankmates.
Currently these are what would be considered Medium for this species.

The bicolor angelfish is very easy to recognize. It is yellow anteriorly and deep blue on the posterior portion of the body. As for all members of the genus Centropyge, this species is more likely to acclimate to the tank if there is live rock or some filamentous algae present for it to graze upon. The bicolor angelfish is not as aggressive toward other fish tankmates as some of the other members of the genus, and it is not as hardy as most other pygmy angels. Do not house with other remotely boisterous fishes. If you keep more than one, make sure to add them simultaneously, and only attempt multiple specimens in a very large tank with plenty of hiding places.
These are currently Medium.

This is one of the smallest of the pygmies. Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands and is a durable aquarium inhabitant. Provide it with plenty of shelter sites. It feeds heavily on diatoms growing on the aquarium glass or décor, and live rock or a growth of filamentous algae will facilitate acclimation. More than individual can generally be housed in large tanks; but make sure you add them simultaneously.

It is not as aggressive toward other fish tankmates as some of the other members of the genus, and it's not as hardy than other pygmy angels. Do not house with other remotely boisterous fishes; this species cannot tolerate abuse. It usually will do best in an aquarium with live rock or profuse microalgae growth. Like many of the pygmy angels, this species can become bold once it has become an established tank resident.
Current specimen is about 3".

The yellow pygmy angelfish is not as aggressive toward other fish tankmates as some of the other members of the genus, and like the very similar Lemonpeel Pygmy Angel, it is not quite as hardy as most other pygmy angels. Be sure to provide live rock on which it can graze. Do not house with other remotely boisterous fishes.

The Flame Angel is one of the most beautiful in the genus, as well as one of the hardiest. It's also one of the top 5 most popular aquarium fish. This fish can become aggressive toward members of its own genus, as well as fishes with similar shape or behavior introduced after it has become an established. Make sure it is placed in a tank with plenty of hiding places. Commonly kept in reef tanks, it may nip at corals, clams, etc., although it is generally not bad. Like all pygmy angels, it does best in reef tanks or tanks containing live rock and/or plenty of algae.
